The Roadside Series: A Saskatchewan Print Story
The Roadside Series: A Saskatchewan Print Story is our artistic interpretation of the nostalgic feeling that comes with a long drive.
Our prints features the sky which we find to be endlessly captivating.
While driving through the quiet highways of Saskatchewan, we often find ourselves peering at the vast sky above. We try to capture that sense of awe and translate it onto paper—the fresh air, the calm, and the smooth hum of tires on the road.
Each print in this series is unique, and part of a varied edition where no two are identical. While we could make them exactly the same, we find it more rewarding to embrace their individuality. After all, the sky is never the same from one moment to the next. We might risk losing our printmaker’s license, but it's a risk we're happy to take.
The Roadside Series includes multi-block reductive prints, ranging from smaller pieces to large landscapes, some as long as 42 inches (unframed). We hope you enjoy!

Bison Horizon Mini Series
The Bison Horizon mini-series places the viewer on a high vista overlooking a prairie expanse dotted with bison, their shadows making them appear larger than life.
These long, narrow prints are a very unusual size: 10 5/8’ x 29 5/8’ which is perfect for thin spaces, like headers, that can be difficult to accommodate.
Pink and Grey Bison Horizon captures a cold grey sky with a bright band of pink. On cold days like this, even the bison take notice for a distraction. Holding the same stillness as the bright day variant, this pinked print holds the moment just before dusk.
Pink and Blue Bison Horizon captures an ethereal moment when the sky blushes pink. Even the bison notice. Holding the same stillness as the bright day variant, this pinked print holds the moment just before dusk. The one listed here is 1 of 3 Artist’s Proofs
Created with a split-fountain blend of Canadian-pigmented etching inks, this print holds approximately a dozen layers. Printed on delicate rice paper to elevate the pigment, then mounted to cotton rag, this modest print has surprising impact.
Bison Horizon captures the quiet enormity of the prairie. Where sky becomes the true landscape and the earth stretches out in a soft, unbroken breath. The composition is deliberately sky-heavy, allowing the vastness above to dwarf the distant sweep of land below. Along the foreground, a herd of bison dot the land with their tufted bodies.
Created using a split-fountain blend of Canadian-pigmented inks suspended in transparent etching medium, Jacob and Jeni print almost a dozen layers of transparent ink to capture the nuance of Saskatchewan. Printed on delicate rice paper and chine-collé mounted onto cotton rag, the modest scale belies the depth of perspective. Bison Horizon invites the viewer into a moment of spaciousness.

Swaths
If you know, you know.
Swaths.
Our print, Swaths, comes in two main variations. One with a dusky, sky full of harvest dust, and one with a clear blue sky, both over a field patterned by swaths.
Swaths are an iconic part of prairie life. Capturing these have been an honour. We made swaths large but not so large that it is difficult to place. An excellent choice for any wall in any area of the home.

The Cow Series
Another miniseries within The Roadside Series: A Saskatchewan Print Story is The Cow Series. Although, the title is currently called the Cow Series, it’s not just about cows.
The Cow Series is a study on capturing the feeling from knowing the sky on paper by using colour and layered texture. And also, sometimes the blobs are bison and not cows. You decide which are cows and which are bison.
